This collection offers an approachable route through J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. It begins with the four central narrative volumes, then moves into the mythology and history assembled or edited after Tolkien’s death. Where to start: Start with The Hobbit, then read The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King in order.
