Trope
Only One Bed
The inn, tragically, has one room left.
1 book on this shelf, newest first.
One bed. The inn is full, the storm is in, and the logistics do the work that a hundred pages of pining could not. It is the most efficient trope in romance: a single sentence of setup and the tension is unavoidable.
Where to start: This one lives or dies on the chapters either side of the night itself. Look for books where the characters already have unresolved history — the bed is an accelerant, not a starting point.
