Fated Mates

Fated-mates stories make attraction part of the worldbuilding. Destiny, magic, biology, prophecy, or an ancient bond may connect the couple before trust has caught up, creating tension between what fate demands and what each character freely chooses.

Where to start: Start with romantasy for magical bonds and political consequences, or paranormal romance for vampires, shifters, and other supernatural pairings. Enemies-to-lovers adds resistance to the pull.
